ABOUT OUR LOGO
MALDEN READS
      One City, One Book
The preliminary design for the Malden Reads logo was created in December, 2010 by Malden High School junior Vivian Le. The design was then built upon by former Malden High School student Elsa Basile, at the time a  graphic design major at Pensacola Christian College.

The making of the Malden Reads logo fit the community-building spirit of this project. Malden High School art teacher Julie Mullane and Art Department chair Mary Ann Seager initiated a Malden Reads logo contest with the Malden High School art students. Students were asked to design a logo that conveyed “reading + community.” Many wonderful designs were submitted, but a Malden Reads subcommittee selected Vivian’s as the winning design.
The timeline was tight and the logo needed a little “polishing” before being ready for print and electronic rendering. Elsa, who entered into an internship arrangement with Malden Reads over her winter break, took on the project and, with supervision from Malden Reads committee member Busha Husak (a professional graphic designer), brought the logo to the next phase of design.

Thanks to Vivian’s and Elsa’s artistic ability, Busha's skilled supervision, the initiative of the Malden High School art department, and our community volunteers from Malden Reads, we have a beautiful logo for the Malden Reads: One City, One Book program.
