MALDEN READS
     One City, One Book
What if all of Malden read the same book?
Malden Reads is a community reading program that looks to answer that question. Organized by community groups, city leaders, and residents, in collaboration with the Malden Public Library, the program invites the community to read the same book and participate in a series of events related to the book’s themes.
The goals of the program are to encourage reading, promote the library, but most of all, build community! We’re looking to build on the success of our inaugural program in 2011. Last year thousands of Maldonians read the book selections, and many participated in the various programs and events. Check out our 2011 events on our archive pages.
The main book selection for the second year of Malden Reads is Outcasts United: A Refugee Team, An American Town and One Woman's Quest to Make a Difference by Warren St. John. For younger readers, age-appropriate selections were chosen.
Please use this website as our electronic meeting space, as we curl up to a good book and then meet our neighbors, young and old (in person), to share what we read! You can  find detailed information about book discussion groups, events, and programs in  2012.
