SUMMARY:Story Time: 3/4/21
DESCRIPTION:Families are invited to join us on Thursday mornings for Story Time. We will incorporate movement and crafts to reinforce the story theme\, engage social emotional learning and sensory experiences. Elena Martinez\, will lead kids through yoga poses connected to the stories\, using a rainbow of colorful scarves to create an interactive adventure. Yoga movement builds strength\, prepares the body for comfortable sitting and introduces mindfulness using the “Here & Now”. Every week we will also feature a guest reading a story in a different language: Spanish\, Arabic\, Creole\, and more! \n\n\n\nFollowing the lead of our season 2021 book\, Born a Crime by Trevor Noah\,  we share the gift of languages with the kids through bilingual stories. \n\n\n\n“I soon learned that the quickest way to bridge the race gap was through language. Soweto was a melting pot: families from different cultural groups\, and thus different homelands. Kids will be lead through movement & mindfulness practices to be “here & now” as they enjoy the activities! SUMMARY:Workshop: Writing from the Inside Out - Memoir Writing
DESCRIPTION:In “Born a Crime”\, Trevor Noah shares a series of stories from his childhood and adolescence that helped to form the person he is today. \nWhat are your stories that make you who you are? \nIn this writing and presentation workshop\, participants will choose a memory\, experience\, or theme from their life to share in written form to be publicly read in a (virtual) presentation. Instructor CD Collins will work with each participant to revise and hone their chosen story. \nParticipants will meet on February 23\, March 2\, and March 16 from 7-8:30 PM.  \nOn April 7th\, from 7-8:15 PM\, workshop participants will present their work virtually at the event\, Sharing Stories: Writing from the Inside Out. \nMalden Reads is subsidizing this program\, so that it is available at no cost to participants.  \nCD Collins is an author\, spoken word artist and gifted instructor who has received rave reviews from her students in previous writing workshops offered through UMA (formerly MATV). \n\n\n\nRegister here!
